Marriage

We just recently got married this past November and I couldn't be happier. We've been together now for 4 1/2 years and now we've been married for 1 month. I'm greatly looking forward to the 1 year mark and then on to the 50 year mark.

Waiting Out Hurricane Ike

We're in Houston and waiting for Hurricane Ike to hit. I guess we're as prepared as we can be but it's still so annoying to sit here and wait. I hate the news. They always try to get you nervous about everything. At least my dogs are enjoying themselves.

Apartment

hey everybody! i'm so excited! me and ike finally got our own apartment! yeah! we went by to fill out our lease yesterday and now it is ours. the official move in date is august 10th. i'll be having a house warming party so i hope to see everyone there. i'm a little to excited to come up with anything revalent to say so i'll leave it at that.

Changes

I've finally reached the summer and my world is changing. Right now I am finishing up summer school and trying to find a new job. My boyfriend just got a new job a month ago and everything is going well. Because of this he was able to get a new car. I am so happy for him! It seems as though everything around me is just as I prayed them to be. When life has you down, faith has a way of changing things. As soon as I land me a job I will also have a new car and soon to have and apartment with my boyfriend. I couldn't ask for anymore. Today I also had another surprise. An old friend of mine found me through myspace and it felt so good to finally talk to her again. Somtimes it's nice to have a fresh face to talk to. I hope all is going well with her and I wish well to everyone else out there. God Bless!

Lions Den

Yesterday I was at a bar with some friends and one of them turned out to be a little more ignorant than I thought. If you don't know me, I go out with a black man. You can probably tell where this story is going already. Pretty much this guy thought it would be OK to say the N word to my boyfriend really loudly in the middle of the bar and not at least get bitched at. Well his explanation for it was, he knew he wasn't racist therefore it was just a term of affection for him and not meant to put anyone down. Well not only did my boyfriend get mad but another black man in the bar heard what he said, paid his tab, and left because he did not want to be around such stupidity. They way I look at it is, if you know the word is offensive to the black community and you claim you have respect for the black community, then you should have enough respect to not say it in the of presence of the black community. But on the other hand I will say that if black people are going to say it's an offensive word then nobody should be able to use it. If a white person cannot say it to a black person then a black, Hispanic, or Asian should not be able to say it. If a black person says it to another race then you just gave that race permission to say it back. Just some advice for the black community, don't degrade yourself by saying the N word and then nobody else will use it. No matter whose saying it, it still holds the same meaning, an offensive slur meaning ignorant, stupid, and uneducated. Everybody, keep ya head up!
